Le calcul de économies engendrées par les ressources éducatives libres (REL) représente la réduction des frais de manuels obligatoires des enseignants de l’Ontario qui utilisent les REL pour remplacer une ou plusieurs des ressources qu’ils affectent aux étudiants. Ce chiffre est calculé à l’aide des données rapportées volontairement par les éducateurs utilisant les REL dans leur enseignement en remplissant un formulaire sur le site web de la Bibliothèque Libre d’eCampusOntario. Les économies sont calculées en multipliant le coût de la ressource remplacée par le nombre moyen d’élèves inscrits par section de cours. Ce nombre est ensuite multiplié par le nombre de sections proposées par semestre et le nombre de semestres pour lesquels l’enseignant compte utiliser les REL en remplacement à des ressources payantes.Le nombre total d’économie représente la somme de tous les données rapportées pour les enseignants de l’Ontario.Combien épargneriez-vous?

The “Overview by Year” chart shows total learner savings in Ontario from the 2017–18 to 2025–26 academic years. Savings are broken down by whether the reporting institution is an Open Library member or not. Reported savings increased steadily after 2018–19, peaking in 2024–25 at approximately ten million dollars.
The “Savings by Institution” chart shows total learner savings by reporting institution. The largest reported savings came from Fanshawe College and Conestoga College, followed by Ontario Tech University, University of Windsor, and McMaster University. The table to the right summarizes total learners impacted: Colleges 232,028; Indigenous Institutes 30; Non-members 46,839; Universities 148,048; Total 426,945.
